The Faculty of Defence Science & Technology (FSTP) provides education that equips its graduates with competitive skills and capabilities to enter the workforce. FSTP has introduced two new undergraduate programs: Bachelor of Computer Science (Honours) and Bachelor of Operations Research with Data Science, and has launched two coursework-based master's programs: Master of Maritime Technology and Master of Cybersecurity and Management. The faculty is also working on adding another undergraduate program: Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Forensic Science and Investigation. In addition to the undergraduate and coursework-based master's programs, FSTP also offers research-based master's and doctoral programs. The experience gained during the study period at FSTP is expected to have a highly positive impact on all its graduates.
FSTP has been operating in the Lestari Building since January 2013 and has established comprehensive facilities for teaching, learning, and research. The faculty also has a Maritime Center, Marine Center, and various other equipment to enhance students' competencies. To further improve its facilities, FSTP has received financial allocations from the Malaysian government. Under the 10th Malaysia Plan (RMK-10), Ship Bridge Simulator and Engine Simulator were acquired in 2014 and 2015 to enhance teaching, learning, and research in the maritime field. Under the 11th Malaysia Plan (RMK-11), three new laboratories in Computer Science were developed in 2019 and 2020: Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Lab, Network and Digital Security Lab, and Creative Media Lab. Additionally, a new laboratory in Hydrography and Hydroacoustics was developed in 2020 and 2021 with the same allocation. To ensure continuous improvement in teaching, learning, and research at FSTP, plans for acquiring new equipment have also been requested through the RMK-12 financial allocation.
